BF RDA "Swamper" Atomizer pins?

I've noticed that some BF atomizer pins are slotted for use with a flat-head screwdriver, while others have smooth non-slotted pins. I've never used a BF atomizer, but I seems to me that a slotted pin would result in leakage between the mod commutator pin and slotted atomizer pin. Is this true, or is this a non-issue?
